Prince of salsa rules CubaLibre Block Party

Revelers filled the 300 block of Alhambra Avenue Friday night, May 11, as The Globe Caf??presented its 9th annual?CubaLibre?BlockParty, commemorating Cuba?s first Independence Day in 1902.?Festival patrons celebrated of Cuba?s rich cultural heritage as they enjoyed food, drinks, cigars, live music and dancing in the street.
Headlining the night?s entertainment were emcee Ileana Garcia and a performance by Grammy-award winning artist?Luis Enrique (@LuisEnrique), known as the prince of salsa. Other featured acts: Conjunto Progreso?played classics from Cuban greats; DJ EL russo?played hand-picked Cuban music all night long, and the Descarga After Party featured DJ Nelly in the Globe?s ?blackroom? until 2 a.m.
The event benefitted Regis House.org, Miami?s premier organization for family support, mental health and substance abuse services.
