Conceived and directed by Barry Levitt, former Artistic Director of New York?s 92nd Street Y?s smash Lyrics and Lyricists Series, the spirited celebrations of America?s greatest songs from Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Hollywood include How Lucky Can We Get? THE AVENTURA FOREIGN FILM SERIES
The City of Aventura presents The Aventura Foreign Film Series of four internationally acclaimed films at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center consisting of Kawasaki?s Rose on Tuesday, Jan, 31, The Piano in a Factory on Tuesday, Feb. 28, Revanche on Tuesday, March 27 and My Afternoons With Margueritte on Tuesday, May 1. The series is hosted by Shelly Isaacs who introduces the films and leads post-screening discussions.? Isaacs created the Boca Raton Classic Film Forum, Caf? Cinematheque International, Senses of Cinema, the International Film Series for the Boca Raton Museum of Art and Cinematheque at Sea.? The Broward Center?s 2011-12 Family Fun Series presented by Coventry Health Care of Florida offers the ultimate theatergoing experience including pre- and post-show activities paired with performances based on classic children?s literature which introduces young audiences to the arts while strengthening reading skills.   • Save the Twinz: Live PINK! presents Women Who Jam!, a benefit concert in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday, October 1 at 7 p.m. in the Abdo New River Room as part of the Broward Center?s Arts Access Program.? Hosted by Danielle Knox, the host of The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television, the event will feature groundbreaking female artists and musicians in jazz, R&B, gospel, hip-hop, neo soul, soft rock and spoken word from the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment?s Women Who Jam concert series.? Proceeds will benefit the Lillian S. Wells Women?s Health Center at Broward General Medical Center and the Seventh Avenue Family Health Center. Tickets are $30.

RAIN performs the full range of The Beatles? discography live onstage, including the most complex and challenging songs that The Beatles themselves recorded in the studio but never performed for an audience. Together longer than The Beatles, RAIN has mastered every song, gesture and nuance of the legendary foursome, delivering a totally live, note-for-note performance in this multi-media concert, that?s as infectious as it is transporting.?   • Orchestra Miami?s Fifth Anniversary Celebration presents an intimate evening of chamber music on Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.? The program begins with Ravel?s lush and sensuous ?Introduction and Allegro for Harp, Flute, Clarinet and String Quartet,? followed by ?Piano Trio in B Major, Op. 76 for Piano, Violin and Cello by Joaquin Turina and Schubert?s ?Trout? quintet for piano, violin, viola cello and double bass.? The concert is part of the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center?s Arts Access Program, which provides technical and marketing support to local community groups enabling them to develop and build their audiences.?   • A hit with young audiences, families and educators, Stone Soup returns for the fifth year with a performance in the Parker Playhouse on Thursday, October 6 at 10 a.m. This modern musical adaptation of the Eastern European folk tale comes to life when three soldiers embark on a journey to find food and discover a town full of zany soldiers and villagers who refuse to share their food with anyone.? Stone Soup serves up memorable lessons about the power of sharing and the joy it brings to people?s lives.? Tickets for the Smart Stage Matinee are $6 for individual seats, $5.50 for groups of 10 or more and $3 lap seats for infants 12 months and under.
  • A musical play about social issues, bullying and lessons learned, Sticks and Stones is performed as a Smart Stage Matinee at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center on Monday, October 10 at 10 and 11:30 a.m. This one-woman musical uses music, poetry and video projection to teach children about the critical effects of bullying based on real life experiences of adolescents. Commissioned by the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and funded by the United States Department of Justice, Sticks and Stones focuses on siblings Scott and Lyn who both experience different problems with bullies, peer pressure and loss of friends. ?Tickets are $10 for individual seats as well as for groups of 10 or more and $3 lap seats are available for infants 12 months and under.
  • The City of Aventura presents Cups, a play by Joni Sheram Wednesday, October 12 through Saturday, October 22 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. A comedy that traces the milestones in a woman?s life through the bras she has worn, Cups is the wonderful new tale by playwright Joni Sheram that reminds audiences of how this intimate apparel holds our memories too. Performance times are weeknights at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
